Anniversary Celebration Of Polish-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce

The Polish-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. On this occasion, a Polish-Hungarian Business Mixer event was organized in Budapest, the 27th of March, 2025, at the wonderful location of Millennium Gardens, bringing together over 100 company representatives engaged in business between the two countries.

The Polish-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce was founded in Krakow, Poland and marks a new beginning in Polish-Hungarian economic and business relations. The Polish-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce revived a 100-year-old tradition, as the first chamber between the two countries operated between the two World Wars.

Mr. Elek Nagy, President of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) congratulated the institution on the anniversary and the effective operations. The anniversary celebration was held under the honorary patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland. Mr. Jacek Śladewski, Chargé d’Affaires, emphasized the importance of economic cooperation and the role of the Chamber in strengthening these ties.

The Polish-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce strives to fulfill its traditional chamber role while adapting its structure and professional content to meet today’s needs, said Dr. Anna Wisniewski, General Director. She emphasized that one of the most important roles today is visibility – both of the market and the member companies, placing more emphasis on marketing and communication. It is also important to enhance networking, where companies shaping business trends can meet. The third area is information, providing insights into business environments, regulations, and opportunities in both countries.

Mr. Tomasz Németh, President of Gedeon Richter Polska, and President of the Board of the Polish-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, reflected on the first five years of the Chamber, underscoring how crucial are the economic ties are for companies operating in the other country. Mr. Tomasz Lisiecki, CEO of Trigranit Corporation, developer of Millennium Gardens, where the event took place, extended his best wishes and congratulated the Chamber on its achievements.

The Polish-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, founded under Polish Chamber Law, operates under the auspices of the Polish National Chamber of Commerce (KIG) and holds official accreditation from the Hungarian National Chamber of Commerce (MKIK). Over the past five years, it has grown into an institution with 70 member companies.

The event was followed by a panel discussion on trade, e-commerce, and logistics, actual trends and market legislation differences. Marta Mikliszańska, Director of Public Policy at Allegro, shared insights from the company’s 25-year journey and regional expansion into Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary. She noted that Allegro's broader supply network contributed EUR 6 billion in value—approximately 1% of Poland’s economy in 2023. Highlighting Hungary’s fast-growing e-commerce market, with half of Hungarian adults shopping online, she also pointed to regulatory challenges facing the sector. Ms. Mikliszańska emphasized the importance of a well-functioning European Single Market and the effective enforcement of national and EU rules on third-country competitors to ensure a level playing field for all market participants.

Another Polish success story is PW Krystian entering recently the Hungarian market. Elżbieta Rogowska, Vice President, PW Krystian, spoke about industry trends and business opportunities in both countries, emphasizing the importance of cross-border partnerships in maintaining a competitive edge in the evolving market landscape. She highlighted how regulatory differences between Poland and Hungary impact trade and business operations, stressing the need for companies to stay informed and adaptable.

Csaba Árvai, Managing Director of Raben Trans European Hungary Ltd emphasized the role of logistics as a key facilitator of trade between Poland and Hungary. He noted Raben’s commitment to providing companies with flexible warehousing, transportation, and value-added solutions to optimize their supply chains in Central and Eastern Europe. He also addressed the increasing demand for sustainable logistics solutions and the importance of innovation in transportation networks to keep up with the growing e-commerce sector.

Dr. Gergely Kis, Managing Director, ENet, provided an in-depth analysis of digital commerce trends and the future of the online marketplace in the region. He detailed how technological advancements and consumer behavior shifts are reshaping e-commerce, with a growing focus on data-driven strategies and AI-powered solutions to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.

Károly Dömötör Makk, Leasing Director, TriGranit, highlighted investment and leasing trends within the commercial real estate sector. He discussed the evolving needs of logistics and office spaces in light of increasing digitalization and remote work trends. He also emphasized the role of real estate developments in supporting economic growth, noting how companies are seeking more flexible, sustainable, and strategically located business spaces.

The event concluded with a networking reception and a wine tasting by the Fine Wines Association, including Tokaj-Hétszőlő Organic Vineyards, Etyeki Kúria Winery, Homola Winery, Tóth Ferenc Winery,  and Vida Winery, where participants had the opportunity to build new business relationships.
