Increase in warranty period
On 8 May 2024, Government Decree 151/2003 (IX. 22.) on the mandatory warranty for certain consumer durables was amended. One of the most significant changes is that the warranty period has been increased to two years for sales prices above HUF 10,000 but not exceeding HUF 250,000, and three years for sales prices above HUF 250 000. In the event of a repeated failure of a product after the third repair, the company shall replace the goods within eight days.
Extension of right of withdrawal
From 8 May 2024, for distance contracts, if the company also sells the goods on its premises and the consumer exercises his\her right of withdrawal in person on the premises of the company, he\she is entitled to return the goods to the business at the same time, i.e., in the case of withdrawal, the consumer can return the product on the premises of the online shop, without having to return it to the company.
